Dr. Sami Khanal is an associate professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the Ohio State University (OSU), where she leads the AgSensing Lab. Dr. Khanal holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Management (2005) from Tribhuvan University in Nepal, a master’s degree in Geosciences (2009) from Mississippi State University, and a doctoral degree in Environment and Resources (2012) from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her research program focuses on the application of remote sensing, ecosystem model, and data analytics in evaluating the role of management practices in the sustainability of agricultural production systems at geographic scales ranging in size from field to watershed to national scale. She teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses focused on soil and water engineering, data analytics in production agriculture, and unmanned aerial systems and remote sensing for precision agriculture.
